The model
An expression you feel immediately
Sofia Pedrazzoli Gimenez from Italy is an outstanding model. What sets her apart is her expression and her control in front of a camera: she carries every pose, finds posture and mood, and gives a portrait depth straight away.
Whether she came with a shaved head or with very short hair, that distinctive look gave the pictures extra character. She remains one of my favourites of all the workshop models of recent years.
Fine-art portraits with real expression
The clear highlight was the fine-art and sensual portrait work. Sofia's strong expression and her reduced, distinctive look were the perfect basis for building quiet, expressive images with deliberate light.
Participants could build lighting setups to match a strong portrait — and see exactly how light, pose and expression together carry a picture, rather than producing a merely pretty photograph.

Your coach
Patrick Rupp
I am Patrick Rupp, photographer and owner of the PR-Arts studio in Oberstenfeld near Stuttgart. I have been working professionally in portrait, boudoir and nude photography since 2014.
My position is simple: there is no excuse for bad light. That is why my workshops are built around controlled lighting, setups you can follow, and images that do not happen by accident.
These are not mass events. I want you to understand how emotion, form, light and composition come together — because that is what makes your own pictures stronger.
